THIS PRAIRIE IS HERE FOR ALL OF US.
Let’s make sure it always will be.
Tallgrass prairie once stretched from Texas to Canada. Today, less than 4% remains intact, much of it in Kansas’s Flint Hills. And just beyond Manhattan, Prairiewood encompasses more than 500 acres of this increasingly rare landscape.
It offers different ways into this landscape — and different reasons to return. People come to gather, learn, celebrate and explore. Whatever brings them to Prairiewood, they encounter the prairie along the way. What was once unfamiliar becomes something personal: a place remembered, revisited and shared with others.
Something this rare deserves more than a future left to chance. For more than two decades, Prairiewood has been shaped and cared for through extraordinary private commitment. The next step is to create an enduring future through permanent nonprofit stewardship. Now, we have the opportunity to secure it — protecting important land, managing it for the long term, and ensuring that the prairie remains a place people can experience and connect with for generations to come.
